Author …Rick Becker - pink bow tie, a self described, amateur social engineer, has worked alongside hundreds of college students in a very large college town, in the Hospitality Industry, for a very long time. Before completing school, he became a Big Brother, reported for his college newspaper, later wrote his own social-political column, and was elected Secretary of the Student Council. He is a Navy veteran, was an eighth grade Project Business teacher while serving on the Board of Junior Achievement, been a Cub Scout Den Dad, a member of Toastmasters International, a prison minister, a facilitator at Separated and Divorced Group weekly meetings and most recently mentors refugees resettled in the U.S.
He is happily married and lives in a modest home surrounded by college professors. He doesn’t hesitate to engage perfect strangers in spontaneous repartee during mutual moments of profound boredom. He suffers no fools, nor takes any prisoners, but delights in challenging misguided authority to the limits of their patience.
Becker’s next book segues his empowerment theme in non-fiction to one of fiction where the resources experienced in the afterlife provide empowering opportunities, surprisingly once again. Heaven is revealed as not just a magnificent resting place but an amazingly empowering, reimagining space.

Here I am teaching business to eighth graders at our local public middle school. The teacher sat in the back of the class and took it all in waiting to hear juicy details about the college nightclub business, but instead I referenced our restaurant. The kids were already in their seats when I would come in the class - always entering with a lot of drama and a remarkable story of something that had just happened. The story was designed to demonstrate a principle or concept integral to that day's lesson plan in the subject area of - Marketing, Economics, Finance, Business - whatever Junior Achievement had suggested for that day. One hour a week for eight weeks for four years I would return to my office totally hoarse and exhausted. I had not taught. I had acted as if an Oscar were at stake. I loved it. So did they.
